Derek Carr’s emotional message after his loss to the Bengals
Scandal after scandal off the field, the Las Vegas Raiders continued to fight on the field. The team’s ability to overcome adversity and lose several key plays secured them a Wild Card spot, ending a four-year playoff drought. Although the Raiders lost 26-19 to the Cincinnati Bengals, they had a surprisingly successful season.
Derek Carr led the Raiders throughout the tumultuous season. Although he didn’t take advantage of several red-zone opportunities, he played quite decently in his first-ever playoff game, throwing for 310 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Few thought the Raiders would get as far as they did, which is a testament to Carr’s leadership and ability.
After the Las Vegas loss, Carr spoke about the quality of the team’s chemistry. On Twitter, he shared a heartfelt and proud message about the team.
A season filled with grief, tragedy and resilience is now over. I am so proud of our TEAM and what we have accomplished. Everyone outside the building doubted and we won. To those who encouraged and strengthened our guys, thank you. We will see you again soon. ☠️ pic.twitter.com/k6qJkiHTZl

Carr has the utmost respect for his teammates and the organization he has been part of for eight years. His future with the organization is uncertain as his contract expires soon, although he has previously expressed a desire to remain a Raider.
The Raiders will have a very busy offseason. They’ll have to find a new head coach and figure out how to keep Carr around. The front office needs to find him a wide receiver and the defense, aside from Maxx Crosby and Denzel Perryman, needs help. Las Vegas’ ability to clinch a playoff berth, however, shows they’re ready to be a competitive team.
Whether Carr is here for the long haul or not, his impact on the Raiders will always be apparent.
