Jacksonville Jaguars 2022 preseason schedule: Analysis of each opponent

The NFL’s preseason once consisted of four games, but the league cut the number to three and extended the regular season from 16 to 17 games last year. Nonetheless, the Jacksonville Jaguars will have four games left in 2022 as they enter the Hall of Fame exhibition game.

Of course, pre-season games don’t count in the rankings and there aren’t really any stakes at stake. However, there are several reasons why pre-season is worth watching. With that in mind, here’s a look at each of the Jaguars’ four pre-season foes in 2022.

These two teams last met in 2019 and it was a meaningful encounter as the Jaguars handed the Raiders a loss in their last game at Oakland Coliseum.

Since then, both teams have seen a lot of turnover, but one thing remains unchanged for the Raiders, quarterback Derek Carr. In fact, he is one of their oldest players. Unfortunately for Jacksonville, the former Fresno State Bulldog and his revamped receiving corps won’t play much in the Hall of Fame game. On the bright side, the two teams will meet again later in the regular season, specifically in Week 9.

The Jaguars will see rookie Travon Walker take the field for the first time, and they can see where his is in his transition to edge rusher. Moreover, it will be the first time running back Travis Etienne has taken the field since suffering a Lisfranc injury in the opener of last year’s pre-season.

Date and time: Thursday, August 4 at 8:00 p.m. EDT at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium
