North Fort Myers High School Mixed Raider Team, JROTC Team


The North Fort Myers High School Mixed Raider team has been named the JROTC Florida State Champion according to the Lee County School District.

They were also named National Champions in November at the National Raider Challenge competition in Georgia.


Last weekend, 80 teams competed at schools across the state in the Florida State Raider Challenge in Lake Wales.

The teams competed in the following five timed events: Tire flip, cross-country rescue, rope bridge, 5 km team race and team physical test.

The JROTC program in Lee County enrolled 5,700 cadets in 14 schools. The mission of this program is to motivate young people to become better citizens.

Order food to help our military

Lee Health Military Support will support red, white and blue and donate items for Easter meals. Items sold include: 8-pound spiral ham for $ 55; 2 ½ to 3 pound roast turkey breast (8 to 12 meals) $ 28; barbecue pork ribs full rack $ 20; 12 pounds of whole Cajun turkey (foods 11-13) $ 35; Apple, Lime, Sweet Potato and Pecan Pies for $ 12 or Red Velvet Cake for $ 22 from HoneyBaked Ham and Lee Culinary Solutions.

Pick up items on Thursday, April 13 at any of the Lee Health locations: 8 am-10am at Lee Memorial; 8:30 am-9:30am Santa Barbara; Cape Coral Postal Library 9-10 am College Parkway 9:30 am-10:30am; HealthPark Atrium 11:30 am-12:30pm; Gulf Coast Medical Center, near the cafeteria, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. or Gateway Westlinks 12.15 p.m. to 3.15 p.m.

Rock our vets

Alex Elkin, recent winner of the San Francisco Comedy Festival and Luke Trotta, a local comic from Florida, will perform Rock our Vets on Thursday, March 16 at Laugh In Cafe, 8595 College Parkway, Unit 270, Fort Myers.

Join in an evening of laughter and support for our veterans at the Laugh-In Comedy Cafe. T-shirts are available for $ 30. This is the first fundraiser in Florida. Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner and seating. Tickets cost $ 15 per person.

Rock Our Vets is a 100% volunteer 501C3 veteran support organization founded by musician Dave Mason and Ted Knapp. They help veterans by being a provider of information for PTSD support, suicide awareness and music therapy. In addition, they provide clothing, food and computers to those in need and have recently expanded to include the families of fallen firefighters, police and rescue workers.
