The Las Vegas Raiders have changed their roster
The Las Vegas Raiders secondary continues to be plagued by injuries and an increased number of COVID-19 cases with the club.
As the Raiders get ready to face denver Sunday Broncos, the team announced that they had placed starting security Johnathan Abram on the reserve/injured list with a season-ending shoulder injury he suffered in last Monday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
“Obviously Johnathan Abram had surgery yesterday. As far as we know everything went well. I texted him last night so hopefully we get him back here after the holidays to start his rehab with us,” Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said of Abram’s injury update.
The Raiders are receiving help in the secondary. They return the rookie cornerback Nate Hobbs from the COVID-19 list, which they sent out last week, ahead of Monday’s game.
They’ve also activated IR security Tyree Gillespie, who can help out in Abram’s absence.
“Yeah, he has a chance, along with about 12 other guys because of the COVID situation. I mean six of course, but there’s a very good chance he’ll be standing this week depending on who we end up with or who we don’t end up with in the COVID situation. He’s been training really well over the last two weeks,” Bisaccia said of Gillespie who had the chance to play this Sunday.
The Raiders’ defense has weathered adversity throughout the season, and with three games remaining in the season, they’re hoping to end the regular season on a high and make the playoffs.
